Josephine R. Kline, 83, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, passed away, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in Berks Heim Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Stearns H. Kline and Ruth N. (Kantner) Boyer. Josephine was the former wife of the late Wilson L. Shalter. Josephine was a proud graduate of Muhlenberg High School in 1952 where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. She was a devoted member of Trinity U.C.C., Mt. Penn where she volunteered and participated in the choir. She delivered Meals on Wheels and loved playing Pinochle and Bingo. Her family and friends will always remember her kindhearted nature. Josephine was an executive secretary for Bell Labs for many years until her retirement. Josephine is survived by her daughter, Cathy Jo Marison, wife of Barry A. Marison, Bernville; two granddaughters, Ashleigh Jo Koch, wife of Donald Koch, Bel Air, MD, and Nicole L. Dunlap, Lakewood Ranch, FL; two step-grandsons, Bryan Marison and Patrick Marison; four sisters, Lynne Edmonds, wife of Ellis Edmonds, Exeter Township, Trudy Ann Weller, Boyertown, Sandra Bricker, wife of Jake Bricker, Pennside and Susan Drey, wife of Hugh Drey, Laureldale and one brother, Scott Boyer, husband of Daylynn Boyer, Laureldale. Also surviving are her father-in-law Jonathan L. Shalter, III, sister-in-law Barbara Bollinger and her many beloved nieces and nephews. She will be missed dearly by her family and her many friends. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday April 7, 2018 from 10:30 am - 11:30 am with services beginning at 11:30 am in the Trinity U.C.C. Mount Penn, 2449 Cumberland Ave., Reading, Pennsylvania 19606. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trinity U.C.C. Memorial Fund to the above address.
